Who Are We?

J. R. Helms & Associates is a full-service accounting firm offering a comprehensive range of accounting, tax and business advisory services.  The company was established in 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Today, our clients are found throughout the United States and include individuals, companies of all sizes, non-profit organizations, associations, and even trade unions.

We pride ourselves on being generalists with a specialist’s extensive knowledge of a wide range of accounting and consulting disciplines.  That means that while you may initially come to us with certain specific needs, as your company grows or your needs change we’re fully capable of meeting your additional requirements.   In fact, we’ve been working with some clients for more than 15 years, offering them a wide range of services designed to help grow and protect their wealth.

Our Philosophy

While our style may be a bit non-traditional and our technology cutting edge, when it comes to our philosophy of business we’re proud to say we’re about 100 years behind the times.  We believe that character matters, the truth is non-negotiable, and personal reputation is priceless.  We believe we are in business to serve our clients, not that our clients are responsible for accommodating us.  At J. R. Helms & Associates, our word is our bond.

This approach to life isn’t something we leave at the office.  Owner Rusty Helms is an Eagle Scout and has been a Boy Scout Adult Leader for more than seven years.  He has influenced dozens of boys and young men to make ethical choices and to live according to the Scout values of building character, training in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and developing personal fitness.
